Pharmaceutical production: Contamination with organic solventsIn the course of pharmaceutical production the soil and groundwater was contaminated with organic solvents in the surroundings of tanks and the factory building. |
| Project description |
The contaminated area altogether covers 7000 m2.
Technology: Soil vapor extraction (in-situ), groundwater pumping and stripping
Project Status: In progress
Media (quantity in m3)
Soil : 21000
Groundwater: 15000
Project Manager: Mihály Frisch
Date of Operation: 1999-
Cleanup Goals:
In soil-gas aromatic hydrocarbons 50 mg/m3, chlorinated hydrocarbons 10 mg/m3 alcohols, esthers and ketones 100 mg/m3
In groundwater: BTEX 100 µg/l, chlorobenzenes 30 µg/l, aliphatic chlorinated hydrocarbons 100 µg/l, methanol 10 µg/l
Contaminant concentration before treatment:
In soil gas: aromatic hydrocarbons 2600 mg/m3, chlorinated hydrocarbons 1100 mg/ m3, other solvents 5000-7000 mg/m3 in soil gas.
In groundwater: BTEX 10000-30000 µg/l, methanol 100-300 µg/l, acetone 100-500 µg/l
aliphatic chlorinated hydrocarbons 100-300 µg/l
